Gruha Jyoti is a flagship scheme announced by the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah government, under which all eligible households will get 200 units of electricity free of cost. The registration for this scheme has been started on 18th June 2023. Gruha Jyoti Scheme will start from 1st July and will be reflected in the bills of consumers from August.

However, to avoid power cut, consumers will have to pay all outstanding electricity bills within the next three months by June 30, 2023. As per Gruha Jyoti Scheme, only one meter per family is eligible for the scheme.

• Now click on NEW USER and register by entering your Aadhaar number and your mobile number linked with Aadhaar card.

The Karnataka government announced on June 14 that registration for Gruha Jyoti Scheme will begin from June 18, 2023, with beneficiaries to receive ‘zero bill’ for the month of July from August 1, if the usage is within 200 units. Meanwhile, consumers can log on to Bescom’s online portal and check their average consumption for the last year under the Consumption History tab.

Gruha Jyoti Scheme Eligibility

• This scheme is applicable for all the people of Karnataka who live in their own houses, in rented houses and also in apartments.
• Under the Gruha Jyoti Scheme, households that consume units less than the eligible average will get a zero bill without any taxes or additional charges.
• Households who consume more than the eligible average but less than 200 units will get a bill out of which they will have to pay taxes at 9% along with the net difference.
• Those who consume more than 200 units will not be eligible for this scheme and will have to pay the full bill amount.
